Growth is optional

The fact of the earth moving incrementally every day is something we tend to ignore, except maybe to bemoan the moving of time. The fact that we may choose not to move with it and to grow is a very scary concept.

Many do not realise that by choosing to stagnate they are left behind. Literally.
You can be left behind while remaining in the same spot.

A wise person once told me that many die but are only buried many years later. I am not sure whom they were quoting, yet the analogy is very apt.

As a family we are very blessed to be readers and learners. It took a while for my son to realise the value of reading, but he is voracious in his reading habits now. We have also learned to apply what we read wherever practical. just reading is pointless unless there is a value to it. ( I still read fiction and manage to apply lessons gleaned from these to real life events.)

Currently our lives are being impacted by the books
" Business secrets from the Bible" by Rabbi Daniel Lapin, and
" Resilience: Hard won wisdom for living a better life" by Eric Greitens.
You neither need to be of a particular religious persuasion nor be enamoured of war examples to find great value and growth potential in these books.

They both present similar themes in very different ways. You need a purpose in life and to be prepared to serve others as you grow. In a gym one needs to do repetitions of varying and increasing strengths of resistance apparatus and exercises to re-sculpt and grow body and muscle. The mind is the same. As is our spirit. Repetition and resistance are good for us, providing we are in service to others and moving towards a purpose. In a nutshell, we are here to achieve and help others do the same.

Lewis Howes podcast 'The School of Greatness' on iTunes has had guests saying very similar things. Treat yourself and take time to listen to these great presentations. His 5 minute Fridays are really spot on.
Help yourself and your family, as well as improving your life. Grow, serve and grow some more, then share and serve that others may grow. Thus achieving a purpose as you move towards YOUR purpose.
Remember, growth is optional, as is reaching your purpose.

Question:Why would you want to be one of the walking dead though? There is so much in life to experience, even vicariously.

Grow and enjoy this season of your life.
